Overview

National Institute of Technology Arunachal Pradesh (NIT AP) was established in 2010 among the ten new NITs set up that year. After starting at Yupia, it moved to its permanent campus at Jote in Papum Pare district, in the hills north of the state capital Itanagar.

NIT Arunachal Pradesh is an Institute of National Importance. It was not placed in the NIRF 2025 Engineering top 100. B.Tech programmes include computer science, electronics and communication, electrical, mechanical and civil engineering, and hostels are provided for undergraduate students.

B.Tech seats are filled on JEE Main ranks through JoSAA counselling, with separate Home State (Arunachal Pradesh) and Other State quotas. Visitors from outside the state generally need an Inner Line Permit to enter Arunachal Pradesh, so check the current rules before travelling for reporting. Eligibility

Class 12 with Physics and Mathematics (plus Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology or a technical vocational subject) meeting the JoSAA 75% (65% for SC/ST/PwD) or top-20-percentile criterion, and a valid JEE Main rank.

Admission process

B.Tech seats are allotted through JoSAA counselling (and CSAB special rounds for vacant seats) on the JEE Main rank, with 50% Home State (Arunachal Pradesh) and 50% Other State quotas.
