Overview
The National Institute of Unani Medicine (NIUM), Bangalore was established in 2004 by the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India, as a premier centre of excellence for Unani medicine education, research and clinical practice, and functions as a Deemed-to-be University.
NIUM is recognized as a Deemed University under the UGC Act and its BUMS and postgraduate programmes are recognized by the National Commission for Indian System of Medicine (NCISM). The institute has an attached 250-bed Unani hospital, central research laboratory and drug standardization units affiliated with the Central Council for Research in Unani Medicine (CCRUM).
