MIT Academy of Engineering (MITAOE) was founded in 1999 at Alandi, the temple town on the Indrayani river at the northern edge of the Pune metropolitan area. The campus lies along Alandi Road, north of Pune city and Pimpri-Chinchwad, and offers a quieter, largely residential setting that suits students who prefer to live on or near campus rather than commute through the city.

MITAOE is a private autonomous institute affiliated to Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU), with academic autonomy granted by UGC. It is AICTE-recognised, holds a NAAC ‘A’ grade (second cycle, valid to 2028) and has NBA accreditation for E&TC, Chemical, Computer, Mechanical and Civil Engineering.
