Overview

Indian Institute of Technology Tirupati (IIT Tirupati) was established in 2015, mentored in its early years by IIT Madras. Its permanent campus is at Yerpedu on the Tirupati–Srikalahasti road in Andhra Pradesh, about 20 km from Tirupati city, and Chennai is roughly three hours away by road.

IIT Tirupati is an Institute of National Importance placed at NIRF 2025 Engineering rank 57. B.Tech programmes include computer science, electrical, mechanical, civil and chemical engineering. The institute is growing its research and postgraduate programmes on the new campus, which is residential, with hostels for undergraduate students.

Admission to B.Tech is through JEE Advanced, with seats allotted in JoSAA counselling after candidates first qualify JEE Main. Eligibility

Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics meeting the JoSAA/IIT performance criterion (75%, or 65% for SC/ST/PwD, or top 20 percentile of the board), and qualification in JEE Advanced after clearing JEE Main.

Admission process

Qualify JEE Main, then appear in JEE Advanced; B.Tech seats at IIT Tirupati are allotted through JoSAA counselling on the JEE Advanced rank.
