Overview

Indian Institute of Technology Mandi (IIT Mandi) was established in 2009 and runs from a campus at Kamand in the Uhl river valley, about 15 km from Mandi town in Himachal Pradesh. Set in the lower Himalayas, it is one of the most scenic IIT campuses, though its hill location means longer travel times to the nearest major airports and rail heads.

IIT Mandi is an Institute of National Importance placed at NIRF 2025 Engineering rank 26. Its undergraduate programme is built around a hands-on design and innovation stream that runs through all four years. B.Tech branches include computer science, data science and engineering, electrical, mechanical, civil, engineering physics, mathematics and computing, and microelectronics and VLSI. The campus is fully residential.

Admission to B.Tech is through JEE Advanced, with seats allotted in JoSAA counselling after candidates first qualify JEE Main. Its CSE seat closed at about the same rank in 2025 as in 2024, so past cutoffs are a fair guide here. Sign up free to see fees by quota, closing ranks and placement data.

Eligibility

Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics meeting the JoSAA/IIT performance criterion (75%, or 65% for SC/ST/PwD, or top 20 percentile of the board), and qualification in JEE Advanced after clearing JEE Main.

Admission process

Qualify JEE Main, then appear in JEE Advanced; B.Tech seats at IIT Mandi are allotted through JoSAA counselling on the JEE Advanced rank.
