Overview

Indian Institute of Technology Jammu (IIT Jammu) was established in 2016, mentored in its early years by IIT Delhi. Its permanent campus is at Jagti in Nagrota, on the northern edge of Jammu city in Jammu and Kashmir, with the Shivalik foothills around it. Jammu Tawi railway station and Jammu airport are the nearest transport hubs.

IIT Jammu is an Institute of National Importance placed at NIRF 2025 Engineering rank 56. B.Tech programmes cover computer science, electrical, mechanical, civil, chemical, materials engineering, and mathematics and computing. As one of the newer IITs, it has smaller batch sizes, and the campus is residential, with hostels for undergraduate students.

Admission to B.Tech is through JEE Advanced, with seats allotted in JoSAA counselling after candidates first qualify JEE Main. Eligibility

Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics meeting the JoSAA/IIT performance criterion (75%, or 65% for SC/ST/PwD, or top 20 percentile of the board), and qualification in JEE Advanced after clearing JEE Main.

Admission process

Qualify JEE Main, then appear in JEE Advanced; B.Tech seats at IIT Jammu are allotted through JoSAA counselling on the JEE Advanced rank.
