Overview

Indian Institute of Technology Goa (IIT Goa) was established in 2016, mentored in its early years by IIT Bombay. It operates from a temporary campus inside the Goa College of Engineering premises at Farmagudi, Ponda, in central Goa, while its permanent campus is being developed. Panaji and Madgaon are both within an hour by road.

IIT Goa is an Institute of National Importance. It was not placed in the NIRF 2025 Engineering top 100, which is common for the newest IITs with small graduating batches. B.Tech programmes cover computer science, electrical, mechanical, and mathematics and computing, and batch sizes are among the smallest of any IIT. Hostels are provided for undergraduate students.

Admission to B.Tech is through JEE Advanced, with seats allotted in JoSAA counselling after candidates first qualify JEE Main. Eligibility

Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics meeting the JoSAA/IIT performance criterion (75%, or 65% for SC/ST/PwD, or top 20 percentile of the board), and qualification in JEE Advanced after clearing JEE Main.

Admission process

Qualify JEE Main, then appear in JEE Advanced; B.Tech seats at IIT Goa are allotted through JoSAA counselling on the JEE Advanced rank.
