Overview

Indian Institute of Technology Bhilai (IIT Bhilai) was established in 2016 and first ran from a temporary campus in Raipur. It has since moved to its permanent campus at Kutelabhata in Durg district, Chhattisgarh, near the steel city of Bhilai and about 40 km from Raipur, the state capital.

IIT Bhilai is an Institute of National Importance placed at NIRF 2025 Engineering rank 72. B.Tech programmes include computer science, data science and artificial intelligence, electrical, mechanical, mechatronics, and materials science and metallurgical engineering. It is the only IIT in Chhattisgarh, and the campus is residential, with hostels for undergraduate students.

Admission to B.Tech is through JEE Advanced, with seats allotted in JoSAA counselling after candidates first qualify JEE Main. Its CSE seat closed at about 7,400 in 2025, among the latest of any IIT, so it is worth listing if you want CSE at an IIT with a rank in that range. Eligibility

Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics meeting the JoSAA/IIT performance criterion (75%, or 65% for SC/ST/PwD, or top 20 percentile of the board), and qualification in JEE Advanced after clearing JEE Main.

Admission process

Qualify JEE Main, then appear in JEE Advanced; B.Tech seats at IIT Bhilai are allotted through JoSAA counselling on the JEE Advanced rank.
