Overview

GITAM (Gandhi Institute of Technology and Management) was established in 1980 in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, and later granted Deemed-to-be-University status in 2007. The Visakhapatnam campus is the founding and largest campus of the university, which has since expanded with additional campuses in Bengaluru and Hyderabad.

The university is UGC-recognised and its engineering programmes are AICTE-approved, offering B.Tech in Computer Science & Engineering, Information Technology, Electronics & Communication, Mechanical, Civil, Chemical and Marine Engineering, the last a distinctive offering given the university’s coastal Visakhapatnam location. GITAM has built a broad academic base spanning engineering, management, pharmacy, science and international studies, and holds NAAC A+ accreditation.

Admission to B.Tech programmes is through JEE Main scores or the university’s own entrance test (GAT), followed by counselling. The Visakhapatnam campus offers extensive hostel accommodation, modern laboratories and a placement cell that draws recruiters from IT services, core engineering and the port and maritime-linked industries present in the region.
