Overview

Bangalore Institute of Technology (BIT) was established in 1979 by the Rajya Vokkaligara Sangha and is one of the older private engineering colleges in the city. Its campus is on K.R. Road in V.V. Puram, central-south Bangalore, close to Basavanagudi and the National College metro station.

BIT is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) and has been autonomous since 2023. It is approved by AICTE and holds an A+ grade from NAAC. Programmes include B.E. across many branches, M.Tech, MBA, MCA and Ph.D. Hostel capacity on the city campus is limited, so ask the college early.

Eligibility

Passed 2nd PUC / Class 12 with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects plus Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, Computer Science or Electronics, with at least 45% in these subjects (40% for eligible reserved categories), and a valid KCET, COMEDK UGET or JEE Main rank as applicable.

Admission process

Government-quota seats through KCET counselling (KEA), COMEDK-quota seats through COMEDK counselling, and some seats through JEE Main. Management-quota seats are handled by the college.
