Kongu Engineering College was established in 1984 by the Kongu Vellalar Institute of Technology Trust in Perundurai, near Erode, Tamil Nadu, growing into one of the well-regarded autonomous engineering colleges in the western Tamil Nadu textile and manufacturing belt. The college has built a strong regional reputation over four decades.

The college is an autonomous institution affiliated with Anna University and approved by AICTE, offering B.E./B.Tech programmes in Computer Science & Engineering, Information Technology, Electronics & Communication, Mechanical, Civil, Textile Technology and Fashion Technology. Kongu holds NAAC A+ accreditation and NBA accreditation across most branches, and its Textile Technology programme is particularly notable given the region’s textile-industry base.
