Overview

Bhilai Institute of Technology, Durg (BIT Durg) was established in 1986 by the Chouksey Engineering College Trust in response to the growing demand for technical education in the industrial belt of Chhattisgarh, anchored by the nearby Bhilai Steel Plant. Over more than three decades, the institute has grown into one of the state’s larger private self-financed engineering colleges, with a second campus (BIT Raipur) opened later to expand its reach.

BIT Durg is affiliated with Chhattisgarh Swami Vivekanand Technical University and approved by AICTE, offering B.E./B.Tech programmes across Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronics & Telecommunication, Mechanical, Civil, Electrical and Mining Engineering, along with MBA and MCA programmes. Several of its departments hold NBA accreditation, and the institute has built long-standing placement ties with regional steel, power and manufacturing employers given its proximity to Bhilai’s industrial base.

Admission to undergraduate engineering programmes is through counselling based on JEE Main scores and the state engineering entrance process conducted for Chhattisgarh, with a share of seats filled via management quota.
