National Institute of Technology Sikkim (NIT Sikkim), Ravangla

Overview

National Institute of Technology Sikkim (NIT Sikkim) was established in 2010 among the ten new NITs set up that year. It is based at Ravangla in the Namchi (South Sikkim) district, a small Himalayan hill town known for its views of Kanchenjunga, and the nearest rail head and airport are at Siliguri–Bagdogra in West Bengal.

NIT Sikkim is an Institute of National Importance. It was not placed in the NIRF 2025 Engineering top 100. B.Tech programmes include computer science, electronics and communication, electrical, mechanical and civil engineering, and hostels are provided for undergraduate students.

B.Tech seats are filled on JEE Main ranks through JoSAA counselling, with separate Home State (Sikkim) and Other State quotas. Its remote hill location means travel planning matters, especially in the monsoon. Sign up free to see fees by quota, closing ranks and placement data.

Eligibility

Class 12 with Physics and Mathematics (plus Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology or a technical vocational subject) meeting the JoSAA 75% (65% for SC/ST/PwD) or top-20-percentile criterion, and a valid JEE Main rank.

Admission process

B.Tech seats are allotted through JoSAA counselling (and CSAB special rounds for vacant seats) on the JEE Main rank, with 50% Home State (Sikkim) and 50% Other State quotas.
