Overview

National Institute of Technology Andhra Pradesh (NIT AP) was established in 2015, after the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh left NIT Warangal in Telangana. It is the newest of India’s 31 NITs, and its campus is at Tadepalligudem in West Godavari district, in the fertile Godavari delta between Rajahmundry and Eluru.

NIT Andhra Pradesh is an Institute of National Importance. It was not placed in the NIRF 2025 Engineering top 100, which is typical for a young institute. B.Tech programmes include computer science, electronics and communication, electrical, mechanical, chemical, civil, biotechnology, and metallurgical and materials engineering. Hostels are provided for undergraduate students.

B.Tech seats are filled on JEE Main ranks through JoSAA counselling, with separate Home State (Andhra Pradesh) and Other State quotas. Its Other State CSE seat closed at about 17,300 in 2025. Sign up free to see fees by quota, closing ranks and placement data.

Eligibility

Class 12 with Physics and Mathematics (plus Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology or a technical vocational subject) meeting the JoSAA 75% (65% for SC/ST/PwD) or top-20-percentile criterion, and a valid JEE Main rank.

Admission process

B.Tech seats are allotted through JoSAA counselling (and CSAB special rounds for vacant seats) on the JEE Main rank, with 50% Home State (Andhra Pradesh) and 50% Other State quotas.
