Overview
Indian Institute of Technology Indore (IIT Indore) was established in 2009 as one of the second-generation IITs. After starting in temporary buildings, it moved to its permanent residential campus at Simrol, on the Indore–Khandwa road about 25 km south of Indore city. Indore itself is Madhya Pradesh’s largest commercial city, with good air and rail links.
IIT Indore is an Institute of National Importance placed at NIRF 2025 Engineering rank 12, the highest of the IITs set up since 2008. B.Tech programmes include computer science, electrical, mechanical, civil, metallurgical and materials, chemical, engineering physics, mathematics and computing, and space sciences and engineering. The Simrol campus is fully residential.
Admission to B.Tech is through JEE Advanced, with seats allotted in JoSAA counselling after candidates first qualify JEE Main. Eligibility
Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics meeting the JoSAA/IIT performance criterion (75%, or 65% for SC/ST/PwD, or top 20 percentile of the board), and qualification in JEE Advanced after clearing JEE Main.
Admission process
Qualify JEE Main, then appear in JEE Advanced; B.Tech seats at IIT Indore are allotted through JoSAA counselling on the JEE Advanced rank.
