Overview
The Gujarat Common Entrance Test, or GUJCET, is conducted once a year by the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSEB). It is a pen-and-paper (OMR) test held on a single day, usually in late March or early April, soon after the Class 12 board exams. Engineering aspirants write Physics and Chemistry in one paper and Mathematics in another. The test is offered in English, Gujarati and Hindi, and there is negative marking.
What GUJCET is used for
- Engineering and technology: B.E./B.Tech seats in the Gujarat state quota at government, grant-in-aid and self-financed colleges across the state, including colleges in Ahmedabad.
- Pharmacy: B.Pharm seats, open to both the Mathematics (A group) and Biology (B group) candidates.
- Merit with board marks: the admission merit list gives equal (50:50) weight to your GUJCET percentile and your Class 12 theory percentile in the relevant science subjects.
Counselling and seat allotment
Engineering and pharmacy seats are filled by the Admission Committee for Professional Courses (ACPC) Gujarat. Registration usually opens before the GUJCET result, so watch the ACPC website from March onwards. Candidates register online, get their documents verified at a help centre, check the provisional and final merit lists, and fill choices for colleges and branches in the online rounds (including a mock round). After an allotment you pay the token fee and report to the college; vacant seats are offered in later rounds. Keep your GUJCET scorecard, Class 10 and 12 mark sheets, domicile certificate and, if applicable, category and non-creamy-layer certificates ready.
Important dates
GSEB has not yet announced GUJCET 2027 dates, and no 2027 press release was available as of 25 September 2026. For reference, in the 2026 cycle applications ran from 16 December 2025 to 6 January 2026 (extended with a late fee to 16 January), the exam was held on 29 March 2026, and results were declared on 4 May 2026 (Careers360, College Pravesh, PW). GSEB usually releases the notification in December.

Eligibility
Passed or appearing in Class 12 Science from GSEB or an equivalent board. For B.E./B.Tech you need Physics and Mathematics along with Chemistry (or another permitted subject), with at least 45% in these theory subjects (40% for reserved categories) as per ACPC rules.
Gujarat state-quota seats through ACPC are mainly for candidates who passed Class 12 from Gujarat or meet the state's domicile conditions. Candidates from other states usually apply to Gujarat's All India seats through JEE Main. Check the current GUJCET notification and ACPC admission rules for the exact criteria.

Syllabus
Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics based on the GSEB higher-secondary science syllabus. Based on the 2026 pattern there are 120 multiple-choice questions for 120 marks: Physics and Chemistry together in a 120-minute paper and Mathematics in a 60-minute paper. Each correct answer earns 1 mark and 0.25 mark is deducted for each wrong answer.
