SRMJEEE

Overview

The SRM Joint Engineering Entrance Examination, or SRMJEEE (B.Tech), is conducted by SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST), a deemed university headquartered at Kattankulathur near Chennai. It is held once a year in up to three phases, usually in April, June and July, as a 2½-hour online test. Candidates may write more than one phase, and the best score is used for ranking.

What SRMJEEE is used for

• B.Tech at SRMIST campuses: admission to engineering programmes at Kattankulathur (main campus), Ramapuram and Vadapalani in Chennai, Tiruchirappalli, and the Delhi-NCR campus at Modinagar (Ghaziabad).
• Sister SRM universities: SRM University-AP (Amaravati) and SRM University Sikkim also accept SRMJEEE for their B.Tech admissions.
• Maths and Biology streams: PCM candidates are considered for all B.Tech branches; PCB candidates write Biology in place of Mathematics and are considered for biotechnology and related programmes.

Counselling and seat allotment

SRMIST runs its own online counselling after each phase’s result. Candidates are invited in rank slabs, register for counselling, fill campus and programme preferences, and receive a provisional allotment based on their SRMJEEE rank and seat availability. The seat is confirmed online, after which candidates submit their Class 10 and 12 mark sheets, SRMJEEE rank card, ID proof and transfer/migration certificate at the time of reporting. Later phases fill the seats left after earlier rounds, so writing Phase 1 generally gives the widest choice.

Important dates

SRMJEEE 2027 dates have not been announced yet (as of 25 September 2026); SRMIST usually opens applications in October or November on srmist.edu.in. For reference, SRMJEEE 2026 applications opened on 31 October 2025; Phase 1 was held on 24–29 April 2026 (result 5 May), Phase 2 on 10–15 June 2026 (result 22 June) and Phase 3 on 4–5 July 2026, with counselling after each phase.

Eligibility

Passed or appearing in Class 12 (10+2) from a recognised board with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (or Biology for biotechnology-type programmes), with at least 60% aggregate in these subjects for most programmes; check the 2027 brochure for campus-wise cut-offs. Indian nationals, NRIs, PIOs and OCI card holders can apply.

There is no domicile requirement. Candidates must be at least 16 years 6 months old as of 31 July of the admission year.

Syllabus

SRMJEEE (B.Tech) covers Class 11 and 12 Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (or Biology), plus English and Aptitude, as per the 2026 SRMJEEE pattern. All 130 questions are MCQs worth 1 mark each, with no negative marking, for a total of 130 marks.
