Overview

CMR University (CMRU) was established in 2013 under the CMR University Act as a private university in Bangalore. Its School of Engineering and Technology is based at the Lakeside Campus off Hennur–Bagalur Main Road at Chagalatti, in north Bangalore close to Kempegowda International Airport. The university also has city campuses at HRBR Layout and OMBR Layout, and its School of Architecture is at Kundalahalli on ITPL Main Road. CMRU is separate from CMR Institute of Technology (CMRIT), a VTU-affiliated college.

CMRU is a degree-awarding private university, not affiliated to VTU, and was accredited by NAAC with an A grade in its first cycle. B.Tech options include Computer Science & Engineering (with AI & Machine Learning and Data Science tracks), Computer Engineering, Computer Science & Technology, Information Technology, Electronics & Communication and Mechanical Engineering. The university also offers B.Arch, M.Tech, MBA, law, commerce and other programmes, and provides separate hostels for boys and girls.

Admission is through KCET, COMEDK UGET, JEE Main and the university’s own test, CMRUAT, plus management seats. Because the engineering campus is on the airport side of the city, students from south or central Bangalore should weigh the daily commute against a hostel place. Passed Class 12 / 2nd PUC with Physics and Mathematics plus Chemistry or another permitted subject, with the minimum marks set by the university, and a valid KCET, COMEDK UGET, JEE Main or CMRUAT result.
