Overview

Chanakya University was established in 2022 through a Karnataka state legislature Act, which makes it one of the newer private universities in the Bangalore region. Its campus is at Haraluru on NH-648 near Kempegowda International Airport, in Devanahalli taluk of Bangalore Rural district. The location is well north of the central city, close to the airport and the fast-developing Devanahalli growth corridor.

As a private university, Chanakya University awards its own degrees and is not affiliated to VTU; it lists AICTE and Bar Council of India approvals. Its School of Engineering offers B.Tech programmes including Computer Science & Engineering, Computer Science & Artificial Intelligence, Electrical Engineering & Computer Science, Electronics Engineering (VLSI & Embedded Systems), Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering and Civil, Construction & Sustainability Engineering. Separate hostels for boys and girls are available.

Admission to engineering is through KCET and COMEDK UGET, plus direct admission by the university. As a young university it has a short track record, so ask about labs, faculty and industry tie-ups when you visit the campus. Passed 2nd PUC / Class 12 with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects plus Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, Computer Science or Electronics, with at least 45% in these subjects (40% for eligible reserved categories), and a valid KCET or COMEDK UGET rank as applicable; direct admission follows the university's own criteria.
