Overview

Jnana Vikas Institute of Technology (JVIT) was established in 2001 and is run by the Jnanavikas Vidya Sangha. Its campus, Vidya Soudha, is at the 32nd kilometre of the Bangalore–Mysuru highway at Bidadi, south-west of the city. The college describes a green, eco-friendly campus of about 25 acres and holds ISO 9001 certification for its quality management system.

JVIT is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belagavi, and approved by AICTE. B.E. branches include Computer Science & Engineering, Information Science & Engineering, Electronics & Communication, Civil Engineering and Mechanical Engineering, with the computing branches making up the largest share of seats. Separate hostels for boys and girls are available on campus, which is useful given the distance from central Bangalore.

Admission is through KCET and COMEDK UGET, plus management quota. The Bidadi location also puts the college close to a large industrial area, so it is worth asking the placement cell about internships with nearby manufacturers. Eligibility

Passed 2nd PUC / Class 12 with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects plus Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, Computer Science or Electronics, with at least 45% in these subjects (40% for eligible reserved categories), and a valid KCET or COMEDK UGET rank as applicable.

Admission process

Government-quota seats are allotted through KCET counselling (KEA) and COMEDK-quota seats through COMEDK UGET counselling. Management-quota seats are handled directly by the college.
