BDS (Bachelor of Dental Surgery)

Overview

Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) is a 5-year undergraduate degree (4 years of academics plus a mandatory 1-year rotating internship) that qualifies students to practice as registered dentists. The curriculum covers oral anatomy, dental materials, oral pathology, prosthodontics, orthodontics, periodontics, oral surgery and community dentistry.

Admission to BDS in India is through NEET-UG followed by state or all-India counselling; the course is regulated by the National Medical Commission’s Dental Council Board (formerly the Dental Council of India).
