Overview
The Institute of Rural Management Anand (IRMA) was established in 1979 in Anand, Gujarat, with support from the National Dairy Development Board, as India’s pioneering institute for professional management education focused entirely on rural and cooperative-sector organizations. It was granted deemed-to-be-university status in 2022.
IRMA offers management programs built around a signature village-immersion fieldwork component, drawing on Anand’s legacy as the birthplace of India’s cooperative dairy movement (Amul), and its faculty have shaped policy across agri-business, microfinance, and rural livelihoods sectors.
