Overview

The Footwear Design and Development Institute (FDDI), established in 1986 under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, is India’s apex institute for footwear, leather goods, and fashion accessory design and technology, with its main campus in Noida and a network of centres nationwide.

FDDI was declared an Institute of National Importance under the FDDI Act, 2017, giving it statutory authority to award its own degrees. Its programs are built around strong industry linkages with India’s leather and footwear export sector, including mandatory internships and industry-mentored projects.

Admission is through the All India Selection Test (AIST) conducted by FDDI, followed by group discussion and personal interview for design programs, or merit-based selection for select diploma courses. Sign up free to see fees by quota, closing ranks and placement data.
