Overview
Central Agricultural University, Imphal was established in 1993 by an Act of Parliament as the first central agricultural university in India, set up specifically to promote agricultural education and research suited to the hill and shifting-cultivation ecosystems of the northeastern region.
Central Agricultural University is a central university under the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, and its programmes are recognized by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) and the University Grants Commission (UGC).
