Overview
The Kerala Forest Research Institute (KFRI), Peechi was established in 1975 by the Government of Kerala as a premier forestry research institution focused on the unique biodiversity of the Western Ghats, tropical forest ecology and forest products.
KFRI is an autonomous research institute funded by the Kerala State Council for Science, Technology and Environment, and its postgraduate research programmes are affiliated to the University of Calicut and Kerala Agricultural University for degree conferment. It hosts specialized divisions in forest genetics, wood science, ecology and forest health.
