Overview

The Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC), Pune was established in 1948 and is one of India’s most prestigious medical colleges, training MBBS students who, upon graduation, are commissioned as officers in the Armed Forces Medical Services alongside civilian students who study on a bond-free or service-obligation basis.

AFMC functions under the Ministry of Defence’s Directorate General of Armed Forces Medical Services, and its MBBS programme is affiliated to the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS), Nashik, and recognized by the National Medical Commission (NMC). The college also runs nursing and postgraduate medical programmes.
